I used to recommend Technorati all the time in my RSS classes -- "this is a good way to find blog posts on something you're interested in" -- but the last couple of times I've tried to use it, I haven't found anything good. In fact I've had better luck just straight Googling for whatever it was.

As a side note - one thing we cover in the 'how to do research' sessions at my library is the concept of authority as it comes to a website. Believe it or not, a lot of the students don't seem to know how to figure out if a website is authoritative or not. I had to go through this with a grad student last week, which I thought was appalling.

If nothing else, at least at one of the two colleges we serve they have had "DO NOT CITE WIKIPEDIA IN THIS PAPER" beaten into their heads by the faculty.
